This photograph captures the moment of love and anticipation as Princess Astrid of Sweden, born Astrid Sofia Lovisa Thyra (1905-1935), and the future King Leopold III of Belgium, formally announced their engagement on September 21, 1926. The couple's radiant smiles and the tender gaze exchanged between them speak volumes of the deep connection they shared. Princess Astrid, a beloved member of the Swedish Royal Family, was the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf and Princess Margaretha of Connaught.
