She was married to Clement Shorter (1857-1926), an English journalist, literary critic, and editor of the Illustrated London News. In addition to her writing, Dora was also an accomplished sculptor, creating works that were exhibited in galleries in both Ireland and England. Clement Shorter, her husband, was a prominent figure in the literary world of London. He was the editor of the Illustrated London News, one of the most widely read publications of the time.
