The image, dated 1918, provides a glimpse into the living conditions endured by the pilots and ground crew of the RFC squadrons based in this area. The corrugated iron and metal hut is dimly lit, with a few small windows allowing in meager sunlight. A long table runs down the center of the room, cluttered with maps, papers, and other military paraphernalia. Soldiers can be seen seated around the table, engrossed in their work.
