The scene unfolds on a misty, moonlit night, as the couple makes their daring escape from the confines of societal expectations and the disapproval of Egan's theatrical career. Charles J.M. Egan, a celebrated actor of the Victorian era, had captured the hearts of many with his exceptional talent and charisma on the stage. However, his personal life was far from perfect. He was married, but the union was an unhappy one, and the couple lived separately.
