Seated in the foreground is Countess Sophia Benckendorff, a close confidant and friend to the imperial family. Behind her, a group of individuals stand, their faces etched with concern and determination. From left to right, Prince Dmitri Dolgorouki, a trusted advisor to the imperial family, stands tall and resolute. Next to him is Pierre Gilliard, the children's Swiss tutor, who had become a beloved figure in the household. Countess Elisabeth Hendrikov, a Russian noblewoman, is seen with a solemn expression, her hands folded in front of her. Baroness Elena Buxhewden, a German-born courtier, is seen standing next to Mlle. Schneider, a French maidservant, both of whom had remained loyal to the imperial family despite the political turmoil engulfing Russia. Count Sergei Benckendorff, Sophia's husband, is seen in the background, his gaze fixed on the camera. Dr. Evgeny Derevenko, the imperial family's personal physician, completes the group.
