The broken bridge, known as Ponte Rotto in Italian, reveals its rich history through the remnants of a temple dedicated to Vesta and Fortuna Virilis. This part of the ancient Palatine is now commonly referred to as Senatorio oggi detto ponte rotto. Created by Giovanni Battista Piranesi, an esteemed Italian artist born in Mogliano Veneto in 1720, this etching transports viewers back to Rome circa 1748.
