The image depicts a man who has been robbed and left wounded on a desolate highway, while in the distance we see the connection being made between him and his savior. In this powerful scene, the Good Samaritan pours oil onto the wounds of the man, showing compassion and care despite their differences. The print beautifully portrays both the physical act of healing as well as the emotional connection that is formed between these two individuals. The composition skillfully highlights various elements of this narrative. On one side, we can see a priest and a Levite passing by without offering any assistance.
