Taken from the vantage point of the roof of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre car park, it offers a general view of this monumental project. The image showcases the impressive reinforced concrete frame being erected by Laings, who were subcontractors for Walter Lawrence and Son Ltd. The name "Lawrence" proudly displayed on a sign adorning the building serves as a testament to their involvement in this architectural marvel. Commencing in November 1959 and concluding in July 1961, this ambitious undertaking required meticulous planning and skilled craftsmanship. The photograph transports us back to an era when manual labor played an integral role in shaping our cities' skylines. The grainy texture adds character to this snapshot from history, evoking nostalgia for a bygone era.
