Donaldsons Hospital, mid-late 19th century. View of the hospital (later Donaldsons School) in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was founded in 1851 by Sir James Donaldson, a printer and newspaper publisher, to educate boys and girls from poor families, and applications on behalf of deaf children were encouraged.
