Royal Navy Supports Indian International Fleet Review

Pictured in the foreground is HMS DEFENDER with INS VIRaT (previously HMS HERMES).
HMS Defender greeted new friends and bade goodbye to a legendary Royal Navy carrier as she enjoyed a four-day extravaganza at the Indian Navys International Fleet Review.
The Indian Navy hosts a Fleet review once during the term of office of the Commonwealth countrys president. This 11th incarnation of the review attracted nearly 100 warships.
Following a 21-gun salute from the Indian flagship INS Vikramaditya, HMS Defender anchored alongside warships from the US, China, Japan, Sri Lanka and India. These included the 57-year-old carrier INS Viraat previously HMS Hermes under the White Ensign and flagship of the Falklands task force back in 1982

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, the Royal Navy's HMS Defender takes center stage as it supports the Indian International Fleet Review. Amidst a stunning ocean backdrop, the ship stands tall and proud alongside INS Viraat (previously known as HMS Hermes), bidding farewell to a legendary carrier of the Royal Navy. During its four-day extravaganza at the Indian Navy's International Fleet Review, HMS Defender formed new bonds with fellow warships from around the world. The event, held once during each term of office for India's president, attracted an impressive fleet of nearly 100 vessels. As INS Vikramaditya fired a resounding 21-gun salute, HMS Defender gracefully anchored itself among esteemed counterparts from countries such as the United States, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, and India. Notably present was INS Viraat – a historic carrier that had proudly served under the White Ensign as HMS Hermes during the Falklands conflict in 1982. This occasion marked both a ceremonial event and an opportunity for camaraderie amongst naval forces. Against this picturesque landscape on water terrain, this photograph immortalizes an extraordinary moment where past and present intertwine in harmony. It symbolizes not only cooperation between nations but also pays tribute to naval heritage and shared values upheld by these remarkable ships.
