The image, taken on January 21st, 1943, shows wardens and rescue squads tirelessly working to remove debris from the school following the attack. The bombing occurred during an air raid on that fateful Wednesday, when a German fighter-bomber dropped a single 500-kilogram bomb on the school in Catford, southeast London. The impact was catastrophic, resulting in the loss of 38 innocent lives - 32 children killed at the school and six more who tragically passed away in hospital.
