EDITORS COMMENTS
Cubs and Scouts from throughout the Huddersfield South West District proudly march through the town centre during the annual St Georges Day Parade. This print captures a moment in time, showcasing the enthusiasm and unity of these young individuals as they gather outside the Town Hall before embarking on their journey. With their uniforms neatly pressed and badges gleaming, these children represent a long-standing tradition of scouting and community involvement. As they make their way up Ramsden Street and High Street, passersby can't help but be captivated by their vibrant energy. The parade route takes them along Market Street, down Westgate, and Kirkgate to the Parish Church where they pay homage to Saint George, England's patron saint. The return journey leads them via Northumberland Street towards John William Street until finally reaching the bustling Market Place. A highlight of this memorable day is when Kirklees Mayor Clr Stanley Dawson takes his position at the Market Place to salute these dedicated scouts. It is a proud moment for both participants and spectators alike. This photograph not only showcases an important event in Huddersfield's history but also serves as a reminder of how youth organizations like Cubs and Scouts continue to shape young minds while fostering values such as teamwork, leadership, and community spirit.
