The manuscript is a visual representation of the complex royal lineage of the Crown of Aragon, which at the time included the Kingdoms of Aragon, Valencia, Majorca, and Sicily. In this detail, we see the portraits of two significant monarchs from the Crown of Aragon: Peter II of Aragon (1196-1213) and James I of Aragon (1208-1276). Peter II, also known as Peter the Great, is depicted in his royal regalia, wearing a crown and holding a scepter. He is remembered for his military conquests, particularly the conquest of the Balearic Islands and the County of Roussillon.
