Baines, a renowned artist and explorer, expertly captured the raw power and energy of this even-toed ungulate, a member of the Bovidae family and the Artiodactyla order. The black wildebeest, also known as the Connochaetes gnou or Puroomo Catoblepas, is a large and distinctive animal native to Africa.
