EDITORS COMMENTS

The Babes, oblivious to the impending doom that surrounds them, play joyfully while their parents lie on their deathbeds, attended by doctors. The image is inspired by a ballad from the 17th century that tells the story of Wayland Hall's owner in Norfolk. Upon his demise, he entrusted his infant son and daughter to the care of his brother.
