Major John Rouse Merriott Chard, VC, earned his place in history during the Zulu War. His leadership and heroism were celebrated by the crew of HMS Vindictive after their successful raid on Zeebrugge on 23 April 1918. Field Marshal Lord Roberts commanded forces in South Africa with distinction, leaving an enduring legacy. Artist Lafayette captured his commanding presence in a portrait that exudes authority and strength. Napoleon Bonaparte, a French general turned Emperor, forever altered Europe's political landscape.
