The keepers of the Wolf Lighthouse, which stands on a lonely rock off the Cornish coast, have been stormbound during the recent heavy weather. Even on calm days the Atlantic swell causes big seas to break over the rock and in a gale the waves dash over the lofty tower. The keepers last relief was early in January and with them was a mechanic, Mr Few, who, landing to repair two panes of glass, was kept a prisoner for over six weeks. Pictured, stores being landed at the lighthouse when, after weary waiting, the sea had subsided. These were brought by the Trinity House ship Mermaid. 12th March 1923. © Mirrorpix
