Timber yard fire. Walinden Road, Hackney, London. This picture shows two types of branch being got to work. 1. The single hose type. 2. The double hose type which combines the forms into one short length of hose and because the extra volume of water necessary has to be held by a radial branch holder. Regulars and auxiliaries working together. The people on the right are putting out fire on the opposite side caused by heat from the main fire. A really hot job. Circa 1940.
