Framed Print of Mr Stanley Adams, left, last night conducted the Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra

Mr Stanley Adams, left, last night conducted the Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra for the last time in Birmingham Town Hall. Mr. Adams, who retires at the end of the academic year as Birmingham Schools Music Advisor, was presented with an ornamental baton to mark the occasion by David Nicholls, of Small Heath, aged 18 (second from left). With them are fellow musicians Karen O Connor, aged 18, and orchestra leader, Laurence Martin aged 16, who received cheques from Count. E. James Eames, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, for being the two most promising members of the orchestra. 15th July 1974. © Mirrorpix
