Framed Print of Heart-op teacher June Mankin knew she was onto a winner when she asked athlete colleague

Heart-op teacher June Mankin knew she was onto a winner when she asked athlete colleague John Williams to run for her favourite charity. But what she didn t expect was for the cause to be picked up by children from the Dene School, Thornaby, and a total of £ 850 raised for the British Heart Foundation. Our picture shows the cheque being presented to cardiologist Dr Stewart Hunter, the chairman of the BHFs Northern Region, left, by third-year pupil Deborah Rowden, the top money raiser, watched by other pupils centre left to right; Joanne Coakley, Susan Hornsby and Clare Leeming; Mr Williams, backk left, and Miss Mankin. 18th July 1986. © Mirrorpix
