This striking image captures Peregrine Bertie, Lord Willoughby of Eresby (1555-1601), a renowned English soldier who made his mark in Europe during the late 16th century. The photograph, an authentic autograph, bears the signature of Lord Willoughby, adding an intriguing historical touch. Bertie's military career began in earnest when he joined the army of Henri IV of France to aid in the latter's campaign against the Catholic League in the late 1590s.
