This image captures a moment in time from the 1770s, featuring the young and dashing Prince George, later King George IV (1762-1830), and his beloved brother, Prince Frederick (1763-1827), Prince-Bishop of Osnabruck, later Duke of York and Albany. The brothers are depicted in their full regalia as members of the Order of the Garter, the most prestigious and ancient chivalric order in England. Established by King Edward III in 1348, the Order of the Garter is a symbol of chivalry, loyalty, and unity among the British monarchy.
