Born in Cortona, Italy in 1596 and passing away in Rome in 1669, he dedicated his life to studying and perfecting his craft. In this particular piece, we see a youthful depiction of the Wind God appearing at the edge of a central oval shape on a frescoed ceiling. This stunning composition is part of an iconographic program undertaken by Pietro da Cortona for the state rooms of Palazzo Pitti in Florence back in 1641.
