A scene on the Thames off the shoreline east of Greenwich in Blackwall Reach. There are two rowing boats in the foreground. The boat on the left is laden with supplies and the other is a peter boat, which is a distinctive Thames and Medway fishing craft. In the distance, to the left, the Royal Hospital at Greenwich is just visible on the skyline and to the right two small sailing vessels are shown becalmed. A rowing boat is shown pulled up on the shore of the Isle of Dogs, which was still largely a rural area.
