EDITORS COMMENTS
All the fun of the run. . . 140 pupils, parents, friends and even pets from Newsome High School raced from the school up to Castle Hill and back to raise more than £300 for school funds. The event, sponsored by Sheffield firm Miller Energy Services, was organised by fifth-year pupils Carol Rhodes, Claire Geisler and Helen Winterburn. This little Jack Russell leads the pack in the race down from the top of Castle Hill on a crisp autumn day in October 1990. The photo captures a moment of pure joy and determination as this energetic Jack Russell takes charge at the forefront of an enthusiastic group of runners. With its tail wagging furiously and ears flapping in excitement, it sets a lively pace for everyone else to follow. This image not only showcases the spirit of camaraderie among students but also highlights their commitment towards supporting their beloved school. As they traverse through scenic landscapes with Castle Hill standing tall in the background, these young individuals demonstrate resilience and perseverance while fundraising for educational resources. It is heartwarming to witness generations coming together - children alongside their parents, friends cheering each other on - all united by a common goal. This snapshot encapsulates cherished memories that will forever hold a special place within Newsome High's history. As we look back upon this nostalgic scene captured over three decades ago, we are reminded of how simple acts can make a significant impact when driven by passion and community spirit.
