Keeping Britain tidy are these pupils of Birkby Infants School, seen receiving prizes from Kirklees mayor councilor Mrs. Mary Walsh for their anti litter and clean up campaign posters. The school has been running an environmental project on litter prevention, conservation, water pollution, dangerous litter, recycling, and the work of refuse collectors. Kirklees cleansing department visited school with a refuse collection vehicle and asked pupils to prepare posters. T-shirts and sweatshirts were awarded for the best posters. The recipients were: Samera Hussain, James Crowther and Husna Iqbal (4/5 years olds); David Johnson, Isat Aziz, Elsa Woods, Simranjit Kaur (five/six year olds); Naomi Hutchenson, Stephen Ashcroft and Abid Bhatti (6/7 years olds). 30th June 1986
