Play pennies... these children wrote the name of their playgroup with coins instead of a pen. More than 20 children from Meltham Mills Church Playgroup collected 1, 000 pennies as part of national play week. The £ 10 raised will go towards new toys for the playgroup, which meets at St Jamess Church, Meltham Mills. The playgroup takes children from two-and-a-half to school age and new members will be joining in September. Mrs Lindsay Wardill said the group prepares youngsters for school through play. 19th June 1991
