Frederick Ronald Midgley, born in 1907, held the esteemed position of Chief Test Pilot. With a career spanning several decades, Midgley's expertise and bravery were invaluable in ensuring the safety and reliability of new aircraft designs. His unwavering commitment to aviation progressed through the ranks, leading him to this pivotal role. To his left stands Sqn Ldr Eric George Franklin OBE, DFC, AFC. Franklin was not only a Test Pilot but also an accomplished aviator with numerous decorations, including the Order of the British Empire, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Force Cross.
