In this image, XF828 is depicted during its semi-navalised stage, featuring a strengthened undercarriage and arrestor hook, yet without the folding wings that would later become a defining characteristic of the Sea Vixen. The Sea Vixen prototype first took to the skies on 20 June 1955, marking the beginning of an impressive aviation journey. On 5 April 1956, history was made when XF828 became the first Sea Vixen to perform an arrested landing aboard HMS Ark Royal, demonstrating the aircraft's suitability for carrier operations.
