This exquisite illustration showcases the intricate details of this unique Australian bird, native to the arid regions of Western and Southern Australia. The Spinifex Pigeon, also known as the Spinifex Quail-Pigeon, is a member of the Columbidae family and is characterized by its long, slender legs and distinctive plumage. The male, depicted in this illustration, displays a rich chestnut-brown body with a white collar and black and white stripes on its neck. The female, with her softer, more muted colors, can be seen in the original uncolored lithograph.
