This photograph captures Geoffrey Dyson OBE, the esteemed chief coach for British track and field from 1947 to 1961, in a rare moment of athleticism as he leaps over a hurdle during a training session in the mid-1950s. Dyson's coaching tenure spanned an era of remarkable success for British athletics, during which he guided numerous athletes to Olympic and World Championship medals. Born in 1908, Dyson's passion for athletics began during his time as a student at Cambridge University, where he excelled in both track and field events and rugby.
