The once vibrant and colorful array of Flemish pennons and shields now tattered and torn, a testament to the brutal clash that has transpired. The Battle of Rosesbeke was a significant turning point in the Franco-Flemish War, a conflict that lasted from 1379 to 1389. The war arose from a dispute over taxes, with the French king, Charles VI, seeking to impose new taxes on the Flemish people. The Flemish, who were economically prosperous due to their textile industry, refused to comply, leading to a series of skirmishes and full-scale battles. The Battle of Rosesbeke took place near the village of Rosesbeke, in modern-day Belgium. The French forces, despite being outnumbered, managed to secure a decisive victory, largely due to the tactical brilliance of Duke Alain de Bourgogne.
