This evocative image captures the deep piety and devotion of Carlo Borromeo (1538-1584), the illustrious Italian cardinal and archbishop of Milan. Borromeo, born in Arona on the shores of Lake Maggiore, is depicted here in prayerful contemplation, his eyes fixed on the open Bible before him. The serene expression on his face reflects his unwavering commitment to the Church and his pastoral duties.
