This evocative print captures the indomitable spirit of Gebhard Lebrecht von Blücher, the Prussian military commander who played a pivotal role in the historic defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Born on December 1, 1742, Blücher was a seasoned military veteran who had served in the Seven Years' War and the French Revolutionary Wars before his fateful encounter with Napoleon. In this image, Blücher, nicknamed "Blücher the Terrible" for his fierce leadership, is depicted in military regalia, his steely gaze fixed on the horizon.
