Amidst the arid expanse of the Middle Eastern desert, a determined Arab patrol marches onward during the tumultuous year of 1917. The First World War had reached the shores of this region, and the harsh terrain of Palestine became a battleground for various forces vying for control. In this evocative image, a group of Arab soldiers, dressed in traditional garb and mounted on camels, lead their animals through the sand, their faces set with determination and focus. The Great War, as it was then known, brought about a significant shift in the power dynamics of the Middle East. The Ottoman Empire, which had long ruled over much of the Arab world, was crumbling under the weight of the conflict. British and French forces, among others, sought to capitalize on this instability and carve out spheres of influence.
