December - the Chateau de Vincennes, 15th century, (1939). Decembre - Le Chateau De Vincennes. Hunting scene in a forest: dogs tear apart a wild boar. The man on the right sounds a horn. In the distance is the Chateau de Vincennes in northern France, originally built as a hunting lodge. The central donjon is still standing. A page from the " Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry", a book of hours produced for Jean, Duc de Berry and commissioned from the Limbourg brothers. Made between c1412 and 1489, and regarded as one of the finest examples of European manuscript illumination, it is held at the Musee Conde, Chantilly, France. Published in " Verve - No. 7, Vol. II".
