Their attire is a reflection of the fashion trends prevalent during that era - long dresses layered over underdresses, revealing open necklines and adorned with intricate lace collars. The handcolored illustration was masterfully created by Edmond Lechevallier-Chevignard, an accomplished artist known for his attention to detail and historical accuracy. Lithographed by A. Didier, L. Flameng, and F. Laguillermie, this artwork captures the essence of Venetian society in the 16th century. Lechevallier-Chevignard's talent as an artist shines through this piece as he brings these Venetian women to life with his brushstrokes. His expertise extended beyond painting; he also worked as an interior designer for public buildings and churches while teaching at the National School of Decorative Arts.
