The first smoking concert given by the Royal Amateur Orchestral Society at the then new Queens Hall, Langham Place, in the presence of the Prince of Wales(later King Edward VII), Duke Alfred of Saxe Coburg, and the Duke of Connaught. The hall seated 3, 000 people, and was lighted throughout with eletcric light and gas. Date: 27th November 1893
