In this striking photograph, taken in 1904, we find a gathering of royalty and nobility, including The Duke and Duchess of Fife, their children, and King Edward VII. The Duke of Fife, Alexander William George Duff (1849-1912), is seen here with his wife, Louise Victoria, Princess Royal and Duchess of Fife (1867-1931). The couple's eldest daughter, Alexandra Duff (1891-1959), stands next to her father, while their younger daughter, Maud (1893-1945), sits on her mother's lap. King Edward VII, who reigned from 1901 until his death in 1910, is seated next to the Duchess of Fife, with a regal expression on his face. The Princess of Wales, later Queen Maud of Norway (1869-1938), is also present, dressed in a beautiful white gown and holding a bouquet of flowers. At the time of this photograph, she was married to Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and was known as Princess Maud of Denmark.
