According to the account in Mark 5:1-13 and Matthew 8:28-34, Jesus encountered a man possessed by many demons, living among the tombs outside the city. Jesus, undeterred, approached the man and commanded the demons to leave him and enter a herd of nearby innocent pigs. The demons obeyed, and the pigs, filled with the demons, rushed down a steep hillside and drowned in the lake. This historical event, which is believed to have taken place in the first century AD, is a significant miracle attributed to Jesus in Christian tradition.
