This stunning photograph captures the majestic Steamship Arundel Castle as it sailed on the South Africa run in 1924. The Union Castle Line's flagship was a symbol of luxury and elegance, transporting passengers between Europe and South Africa with unparalleled comfort and style. The Arundel Castle, launched in 1924, was the largest and most advanced liner in the Union-Castle fleet at the time. Measuring 612 feet in length and with a tonnage of 16,564 gross register tons, she could accommodate over 1,000 passengers. Her sleek design and elegant lines were a testament to the advanced shipbuilding techniques of the era. The photograph shows the Arundel Castle in full steam, with plumes of smoke billowing from her funnels.
