After proving her worth in that role, she was employed as relief-ship for the Jackson-Harmsworth Arctic expedition (1894-1897) and the Discovery Expedition of 1903. Then, between 1910 and 1913 she was the main vessel of the British National Antarctic Expedition led by Captain Scott
