Bronze Age Warriors

A foot soldier armed with a bronze hatchet and bronze spear and a horseman armed with a bronze sword, a bronze hatchet and sword- belt. The horse is decked with round bronze discs. Swords evolved from daggers in the Bronze Age and were between 50 and 90 cms long. The edge was often hardened and hammered to give a sharp edge. The introduction of the sword marked a significant shift in attitudes. It was the first weapon produced solely to physically harm human opponents. The use of horses in war emerged in Eurasia between 4000 to 3000 BC and spread to other countries. Warriors as a separate class date back to the late Bronze Age, circa 1000 BC. A military class of sword-bearing, individually mounted warriors evolved and created a form of warfare which dominated Europe for the next 3000 years. It could be said to be the birth of militarism and the start of the arms race
