EDITORS COMMENTS
This enchanting photograph captures the magical moment of the wedding ceremony between His Royal Highness Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Her Royal Highness Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, on the 29th of November, 1934. The Duke and Duchess of Kent's nuptials took place at the Westminster Abbey in London, England, surrounded by the grandeur and elegance of the British monarchy. Prince George, the third son of King George V and Queen Mary, was a dashing figure in his military uniform, complete with the Order of the Garter insignia. His bride, Princess Marina, looked radiant in her ivory satin and lace wedding gown, adorned with a veil of Brussels lace and an elaborate tiara. The couple's union marked the end of a long-standing feud between the British and Greek royal families. Princess Marina, a granddaughter of King Constantine I of Greece, was the first Greek princess to marry into the British royal family since the schism between the two monarchies in 1862. The wedding was a symbol of reconciliation and unity between the two royal houses. The wedding reception was held at Buckingham Palace, where the newlyweds were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of well-wishers. The Duke and Duchess of Kent went on to have three children together, and their marriage was known for its happiness and devotion. This beautiful photograph is a testament to their love and the historical significance of their union.
