EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the sleek and powerful Convair F-106B Delta Dart 59-0151 in all its glory. This United States Air Force aircraft, with its distinctive design and advanced technology, was a true marvel of engineering during its time.
The F-106B Delta Dart was known for its speed, agility, and precision in combat situations. It served as a vital asset to the USAF, providing air defense and protection for the nation's skies. This particular aircraft, with serial number 59-0151, had an impressive service history before meeting its fate as a target drone in 1997.
Based at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, this F-106B was eventually converted into a QF-106 (AD266) for use in missile testing exercises. Tragically, on November 25th, 1997, it was shot down by an AiM-120 missile during one such test.
Despite its ultimate demise, this print immortalizes the legacy of the Convair F-106B Delta Dart and pays tribute to the brave pilots who flew these incredible machines. The Peter Butt Aviation Collection has captured a moment frozen in time - showcasing the beauty and power of this iconic aircraft from circa 1980.
