EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this photograph of the Carpenters Arms pub in Chelmsford, Essex, dating back to the 1930s. The image, taken in the thirties, captures the main side of the pub with its distinctive red brick facade and ornate white detailing. The pub, which was not part of Seabrooke and Sons, Limited, is seen here in its original form before the many changes it underwent over the decades. The Carpenters Arms, located at CM2 7QE, has a rich history that can be traced back to at least 1929, as detailed on the back of this print. The pub was a popular gathering place for the local community, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for those seeking a pint and a good conversation. As you gaze at this photograph, you can almost hear the clinking of glasses and the lively banter of patrons. The Carpenters Arms was more than just a pub; it was a hub of social activity and a cherished part of Chelmsford's history. Fast forward to July 2018, and the Carpenters Arms has been transformed into the Yasmin Indian Brasserie. While the exterior may have changed, the spirit of this historic building remains, continuing to serve the community in a new and exciting way. This photograph is a beautiful reminder of the past and a testament to the enduring character of the Carpenters Arms in Chelmsford, Essex.
