EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the exterior of the Artichoke Public House, located in the picturesque town of Brentwood, Essex (CM15 8DZ). The image, taken prior to July 2018, depicts the Toby Carving Room, which was a popular dining area known for its delicious roast dinners and warm, inviting atmosphere. The red brick facade of the pub is adorned with intricate architectural details, including ornate stonework and decorative arches, which add to its charming character. The Artichoke Public House was once a beloved local establishment, a place where friends and family gathered for good food, conversation, and a pint or two. The pub was not owned by the Charrington and Company Limited, but rather, it was an independent business that contributed to the rich tapestry of Brentwood's vibrant social scene. This photograph is a snapshot of a bygone era, a reminder of the warmth and hospitality that could be found in the heart of this Essex community.
