EDITORS COMMENTS
Step right up and experience the magic of a bygone era with this image of children delighting in a Carousel ride at the Folklore Belge fairground in Bruges during the 1950s. The photograph, taken by an unidentified photographer, transports us back in time to an era when life moved at a slower pace and the simple pleasures of childhood reigned supreme. The carousel, a beloved fixture at fairs and amusement parks around the world, has a rich history that dates back over 400 years. Originating in Europe, these merry-go-rounds were originally designed as a form of entertainment for the aristocracy, with intricately carved horses and ornate decorations. Over time, they became more accessible to the general public, and by the 1950s, they had become a staple of fairground attractions. In this photograph, we see the joy and wonder on the faces of the children as they eagerly await their turn to climb aboard the colorful horses. The horse they choose may be their favorite, or perhaps they'll opt for a more exotic animal, like a zebra or a lion. The calliope music plays in the background, adding to the sense of excitement and anticipation. The Folklore Belge fairground, located in the heart of Bruges, was a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The fairground offered a variety of rides, games, and attractions, each one more thrilling than the last. But it was the carousel that held a special place in the hearts of young and old alike. As we gaze at this photograph, we can't help but be transported back to a simpler time, when the world seemed a little more magical, and the simple pleasures of life were enough to bring joy to our hearts. Let the memories of this enchanting scene live on, and may the magic of the carousel continue to captivate and delight generations to come.
