EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Liszt Collection showcases Plate 5, a stunning display of trophies, Roman arms, decorations, and windows. The image takes us back to the second floor of Palazzo Milesi in Rome during the year 1658. Through the intricate etching technique employed by Giovanni Battista Galestruzzi, an Italian artist hailing from Florence between 1615 and 1669, we are transported to a time when artistry flourished. The composition is inspired by Polidoro da Caravaggio's work and pays homage to his legacy. Caravaggio was an influential painter born in Messina around 1543. His impact on Italian art cannot be overstated. Measuring at approximately 7 1/2 x 10 1/4 inches (191 x261 cm), this state sheet print captures every detail with precision and finesse. It is evident that great care has been taken in preserving this piece of history for future generations to appreciate. While it is important not to mention commercial use or any specific company associated with this artwork, one cannot deny its value as a cultural artifact. This print serves as a reminder of our rich artistic heritage and invites us to delve into the world of ancient Rome through the eyes of talented artists like Galestruzzi and Caravaggio
