Archaeologist reconstructing a bronze Celtic pot

Celtic pot reconstruction. Archaeologist reconstr- ucting a bronze Celtic pot excavated from a grave at Glauberg near Frankfurt in Germany. The pot was crushed when the grave collapsed. The grave also held a statue of the druid nobleman who lay in it, along with gold offerings including an intricately crafted necklace. The gold items have shown that the Celts were better goldsmiths than their Roman contemporaries. The buried man has been named the Glauberg Giant due to his great height. The Celts dominated western and central Europe during the first millennium B.C. Photographed in the Glauberg excavation laboratories at the State Department of Archaeology in Wiesbaden, Germany

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness an archaeologist delicately reconstructing a bronze Celtic pot that was unearthed from a grave at Glauberg near Frankfurt in Germany. The pot had suffered damage when the grave collapsed, but its fragments hold valuable insights into the ancient Celtic civilization. The significance of this discovery extends beyond the pot itself. Within the same burial site, alongside the crushed vessel, lay a statue of a druid nobleman and several gold offerings, including an exquisitely crafted necklace. These golden treasures have shed light on an intriguing revelation – that the Celts possessed superior goldsmithing skills compared to their Roman counterparts. The buried man found within this remarkable grave has been aptly named the Glauberg Giant due to his towering height. This finding serves as a testament to how influential and dominant the Celts were in western and central Europe during the first millennium B. C. Captured within the Glauberg excavation laboratories at Wiesbaden's State Department of Archaeology in Germany, this photograph encapsulates both scientific rigor and artistic curiosity. It invites us to marvel at not only our ancestors' craftsmanship but also at humanity's unyielding quest for knowledge about our past. This awe-inspiring image is brought to you by Science Photo Library – an invaluable resource for those seeking visual enlightenment through science and history.
